Message from the Founder:
For too long, the image of scaffolding has been limited to one type of worker. The truth is — scaffolding is about skill, precision, teamwork, and integrity — qualities not defined by gender.
When I first entered the scaffolding industry, I saw incredible skill, teamwork, and pride in what we build — but I also saw how few women were visible within it. WiSA was born out of that reality — not to divide, but to connect.
It’s not about tokenism or diversity metrics — it’s about merit, opportunity, and a shared standard of excellence. WiSA exists to create space for women who are already excelling in this trade and especially for those who aspire to enter it.
Every scaffold tells a story of strength and structure. WiSA represents the same — women who build, lead, and inspire. Together with our partners, we’re laying the groundwork for a stronger, safer, and more balanced industry.
— Emerantia Claassen, Founder, Women inScaffolding Association (WiSA)

About Us
WiSA was founded to represent and support women in the scaffolding industry —from apprentices to managing directors. We provide a professional space where members can connect, collaborate, and celebrate achievement.
Our aim is to create a community that raises awareness, shares resources, and drives change in how women are represented across construction and access trades. The Women in Scaffolding Association (WiSA) unites women and industry partners across the UK who share a commitment to professional excellence. With over 60,000 CISRS cardholders in the UK and fewer than a dozen qualified women scaffolders, WiSA stands as a voice for progress — promoting training, mentorship, and equal access to opportunity through merit and skill.
“A scaffolding industry where skill and determination define success.”
